Amazon.com Product Description

Blokus develops logic and spatial perception while kids learn to be tactical. Players take turns placing pieces on their board, each starting from their corner. Each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners. The goal is to get rid of all your pieces. The game ends when all players are blocked from laying down any more of their pieces. Includes one game board with 400 squares, 84 game pieces in four bright translucent colors, and an instruction guide.
Fun for both kids and adults, Blokus is a strategy board game that challenges spatial thinking. Bright colors and simple rules make it ideal for ages five and up, but adults will certainly be engrossed by this unique and challenging game.
Not Your Average Board Game
Blokus encourages creative thinking and has received a Mensa award for promoting healthy brain activity. The goal of this game is for players to fit all of their pieces onto the board. When placing a piece it may not lie adjacent to the player's other pieces, but must be placed touching at least one corner of their pieces already on the board. The player who gets rid of all of their tiles first is the winner and strategic thinking helps as you block moves from your opponent. Blokus sometimes comes to an end because there are no more possible moves.
Four players make this abstract game especially fast and exciting; however, it can be just as fun for two or three players. Blokus has come up with a number of different ways to play the game to make it more thrilling when playing with less than four players. Draft Blokus allows a player to use more than one color and Reverse Blokus reverses the entire game so that the person who places the least amount of tiles on the board is the winner. It can even be played in a solitaire version when one player attempts to place all of their pieces in a single sitting. A game of Blokus typically lasts a 30 minutes. As a practical feature, raised edges on the board help keep the tiles in place and allow convenient clean-up. This game includes 84 pieces in four vibrant colors, an instruction guide, and one gameboard with 400 squares.
Blokus is simple to understand, but the game's complexity is revealed shortly after everyone begins to play. It can be addictive, even for those not normally into abstract games. Blokus is a catalyst for spatial thinking, as players form images in their mind before placing the pieces on the board. Children and adults can play together for hours of competitive family fun. As Europe's 2003 Game of the Year, Blokus is adored by many and even played in professional tournaments.

 "Another fun game!" 2010-09-14

We took this game on a family vacation with family members from age 4 to grandparents. Everyone enjoyed the game, according to skill level. Of course, the younger children did not understand the strategy totally. They still liked to play. It would not be fun for them to play with older people who were totally into winning.

I gave this game to my nephew, to my grandson and then got one for me. It is a fun game to play for all ages. Even 5 yr olds can play. Even more exciting when 4 people play. The kids are holding their next piece to play even before it is their turn. I love it.

 "Great family game" 2010-08-09

We just got this game yesterday and love it! We play the 3 player version (because there are only 3 of us) where each person gets 7 tiles from the extra color to play along with their main color. It is tons of fun! The first game we played, our 8 year old won! Dh and I were shocked.

This is a great game with very simple rules, but uses lots of strategy and spatial reasoning. I recommend it for families with young children as well as those with older children. After ds went to bed, dh and I played it with both of us playing 2 colors. It was just as much fun! We're not great at it yet (we still have several pieces leftover and no place to play them) but I think this could be our new go to family game.

"I love this game - great for families" 2010-07-17

This game is so fun for groups of 2-4. It takes strategy, but each game is fairly short and you can stop whenever you'd like. When playing with only 2 people I adapt the board by making the square shorter with pieces from a different color. You will understand if you play the game. I can't get enough of it and my dad, who doesn't like to play games, even enjoys it because it is so quick and easy.

 "Great for ALL ages!" 2010-07-02

My husband got this for me for my birthday last year, I love puzzles and puzzle games. It turned out to be one the only games every member in my family can (and loves to) play! My 6 year old is like me with puzzles and wins the game pretty much every time. My 4 year old loves the challenge of playing by himself and trying to get all the pieces on the board according to the rules (no same-color straight edges can tough each other). And my 2 year old sits with me and plays putting the pieces on any way she can - works her dexterity and fine motor skills as well as her ability to see how to turn pieces so they fit.

EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THIS GAME! (just make sure you supervise the little ones, the pieces are pretty small)
